Buffalo chicken dip prepared in the slow cooker

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip

This is my family’s favorite version of Buffalo Chicken Dip.   It’s mild, creamy, delicious, and quite possibly addictive.  The best part is that you simply throw everything in the slow cooker and give it a stir halfway through the cooking time and a few minutes before serving.    Its very easy to make this Buffalo Chicken Dip in the slow cooker. Slow cooker Buffalo Chicken dipThe original recipe for Buffalo Chicken Dip on which this is based isn’t mine.  In fact, it came off of the back of a bottle of Frank’s Red Hot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce, but we have changed it up a bit to make it ours.  We love serving this with tortilla chips or chunks of celery.   However you eat it, it’s addictive, so beware.  You may find yourself making this once a week for no reason at all and eating it for dinner.  I may, or may not, know a family that’s done this.

This dip recipe is creamy, delicious, and quite possibly addictive. Serve with crackers like the original recipe recommended or follow our example and serve it with crispy corn tortilla chips and celery stalks. Cook's note: For more heat, us the original cayenne pepper sauce. For milder heat, us the buffalo chicken wing sauce. If you like bleu cheese with your wings instead of ranch, add bleu cheese dressing instead.
Ingredients
  • 2 cups shredded, cooked, chicken OR 2 (10 ounce) cans chicken (drained)
  • 1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese, cut into cubes
  • ½ cup ranch dressing.
  • ½ cup Frank's Buffalo chicken wing sauce or Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce
  • ¾ cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
Instructions
  1. Place all of the ingredients in a 2 to 2½ quart slow cooker.
  2. Stir gently.
  3. Cook on high for 1½ -2 hours, stirring occasionally or on low for 2½ to 3 hours.
  4. When the dip is beginning to get hot and bubbling, give it a good stir to fully incorporate all of the ingredients.
  5. Serve straight from the slow cooker, or ladle into bowls.
  6. Serve with your favorite crackers, corn tortilla chips, and/or vegetables for dipping.
