Ten Desserts from the Pantry

Ten Desserts from the Pantry

Desserts are often made from Pantry Staples. For instance, cakes begin with flour, sugar, and baking soda. I have put together a list of desserts today because I firmly believe that just because you’re eating out of your pantry doesn’t mean that you have to do without dessert. This collection of recipes doesn’t include any traditional cakes or cookies, but in this list, you will find some of my favorite simple desserts. Canned Fruit Cobbler Canned Fruit Cobbler is one of the recipes that Baker’s Man and I have been making since we were starving college students. Sometimes, he would […]

Devil's Food Cake Mix Cookies with White Chocolate Chips and Macademia Nuts

Devil’s Food Cookies with White Chocolate and Macadamia Nuts

Devil’s Food Cookies with White Chocolate Chips and Macadamia Nuts are one of the latest combinations I have created for my expanding repertoire of cake mix cookies, and they are fast becoming a favorite around here. These cookies begin with a devil’s food cake mix and have a total of only five ingredients which makes them simple to prepare. They’re a great cookie to bake for the holidays or just for a snack. I love to stick a few into packed lunches as a special treat. While it may be possible to make these cookies for less if they were […]

Cran-Raspberry Gelatin Salad

Cran-Raspberry Gelatin Salad

Cran-Raspberry Gelatin Salad is a variation on our Lemon Gelatin Fruit Salad. I chose not to refer to this variation as a fruit salad because, frankly, there wasn’t a lot of fruit in this combination. The whole berry cranberries just seem to disappear among the cottage cheese, and while this still has some texture, it wasn’t enough to call it a fruit salad. I love how easy these gelatin salads are to prepare. I almost always have cottage cheese in the refrigerator and frozen whipped topping in the freezer. Since I have chosen to do 30 days of gelatin, I […]

Gelatin Parfait

Gelatin Parfait

This recipe for Gelatin Parfait created some debate in our household its proper name. Baker’s Man said it was called a Gelatin Parfait, but I think of parfaits as more elaborate layered desserts. It wasn’t until a trip to one of our local grocery stores, that I realized that people really call this simple dessert a parfait. Who knew? I guess Baker’s Man did. This is one of the easiest things you can make with gelatin. It’s a mixture of gelatin and frozen whipped topping. If you prefer, you can whip your own cream and use it instead. What do […]

Layered Gelatin Salad

Layered Gelatin

Layered Gelatin isn’t something that I make very often. To be honest, I prefer more instant gratification when I make my gelatin recipes. I don’t want to have to remember to keep going back to the fridge to check on each layer before proceeding. I decided to make this layered gelatin and post the instructions here because I think that the different layers look great, and because one of my co-workers who knew about my 30 days of Gelatin project asked how I make layered gelatin. What do you need to prepare this recipe? From the Pantry 3 (4 serving) […]
