Gumdrop Cake is usually a Christmas tradition in certain cultures, so why am I making one in February? Don’t you know that today is National Gumdrop Day? I already had some gumdrops, and having been inspired by this post for a Christmas Gumdrop Bundt Cake, I decided that I would celebrate today by making a Gumdrop cake. I, however, lacked the ambition to create a cake from scratch, so I used a cake mix. (Gasp!)
Why am I publishing a list of five favorite homemade candies? Primarily, I’m publishing this list because all of these recipes contain chocolate, and I love chocolate, but each of these recipes also makes a great gift.
Fifteen dozen cookies in two hours is not an idle promise. This is the best cookie hack. Bus Boy and I really did this. If you don’t have a helper, don’t worry. Bus boy didn’t really do much more than stand around in the kitchen and supervise the baking. Oh, I almost forgot that he taste tested some of the cookies, too.
I may be overdoing things with these crinkle cookies, but with upcoming holidays, I just realized that what we need in our lives is Red Velvet Cake Mix Crinkle Cookies. Think about it. Red is a great color for Christmas, but it’s a great color for Valentine’s day, too. That means that there are at least two occasions where red velvet crinkle cookies can make an appearance in your house. There are other times, too.
This recipe for Pumpkin Cake Roll may be coming a little late to the annual pumpkin recipe party, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share it with all of my readers. It’s just too good to wait until next fall. This tantalizing dessert of pumpkin cake wrapped around a sweet and tangy cream cheese frosting is addictive. Besides, this Pumpkin Cake Roll freezes well, so if you’ve picked up any pumpkin that’s on sale, you can make several and store them in the freezer until you’re ready to entertain.
The first time I made this was when I was in college. It was first year that baker’s man and I were together. I wanted to impress him with my domestic skills, but I wasn’t really good at cake decorating. Instead of the usual way to decorate, I used a bag of m&m’s and some jelly candies that we had on hand to decorate a pan of brownies. It was a tradition early in our marriage, but after we had kids, we eventually switched to making mud for Halloween dessert.
Chocolate Crinkle Cake Mix Cookies are a fun and simple sweet treat to make for the ones you love. These cookies have only four ingredients, so they’re easy to prepare, but they taste as if you worked hard to create them.
I love lemon desserts–lemon pie, lemon cake, lemon curd tarts, lemon bars, and lemon crinkle cookies. I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few, but I’ve remembered the purpose for today’s post. Lemon crinkle cake mix cookies are very simple to make and are sure to become a favorite in your house like they are in mine.
