Today is Clam Chowder Day, and I’m putting together a pot full of homemade clam chowder for my family. I have another recipe for clam chowder made from food storage items here on the Patty Cake’s Pantry website, but this time, I’m making it entirely from scratch. Homemade Clam Chowder is delicious, and it’s surprisingly simple to prepare. There’s really only minimal prep work necessary, and almost all of the ingredients are things that I keep on hand in my pantry and fridge.

One of the points of conflict in my relationship with Baker’s Man is soup. I love soup, and he doesn’t. The one exception to this is chili, so he likes the chili that I have been making for years, and he likes the chili con carne with beans that I made during my 30 days of cans, but those are almost the only soup-like foods that he will eat. In fact, if I suggest soup for dinner, he rolls his eyes or makes a comment that ensures I remember that he isn’t a fan of soup. These five recipes; however, […]
I love to make potato soup. It’s actually one of the few soups that Baker’s Man enjoys. For this version, I used both canned milk and canned potatoes. In this case, using canned milk serves a purpose beyond fulfilling requirements for my 30 days of cans challenge. Evaporated milk is concentrated milk that has had part of the water removed through evaporation. Because this recipe uses a large number of canned ingredients, it’s on the table in about 35 minutes.
This recipe for Navy Bean and Bacon Soup is made from canned beans. It’s simple to make, uses readily available ingredients, and makes it possible to have dinner on the table in just a few minutes. That’s what makes this recipe for Navy Bean and Bacon Soup a keeper.
This is a canned food version of one of my favorite low calorie soups. I love that all I have to do to make a pot of chicken enchilada soup is put everything into a pot and bring it to a boil. It’s hearty, flavorful, and figure friendly as well as simple to prepare. Who could ask for more from a soup?
When I hear someone mention Chile Verde, I usually think of pork, but this version, which uses canned chicken, is a simple and delicious alternative. It’s a quick and delicious meal for a busy week night. I like to make this using great northern beans, so that the entire dish is mostly white, but it’s equally delicious when made with pinto beans. The Chicken Chile Verde is delicious on its own, but it can also be served with warm tortillas, or fresh tortilla chips, and topped with shredded Monterey Jack cheese, fresh cilantro, green onions and accompanied by your favorite […]
