Homemade Clam Chowder

Today is Clam Chowder Day, and I’m putting together a pot full of homemade clam chowder for my family.  I have another recipe for clam chowder made from food storage items here on the Patty Cake’s Pantry website, but this time, I’m making it entirely from scratch.  Homemade Clam Chowder is delicious, and it’s surprisingly simple to prepare.  There’s really only minimal prep work necessary, and almost all of the ingredients are things that I keep on hand in my pantry and fridge.

Clam Chowder From Food Storage Items

As the weather gets colder, we begin to think in terms of  foods that are hot and hearty.  Nothing is more comforting than a warm bowl of clam chowder served with some crusty sour dough bread.  Baker’s Man isn’t much of a soup fan, but he loves chowder.  After growing up in San Francisco, he is  also very fond of sour dough bread.  Clam Chowder served in a sour dough bowl seemed like a great idea.
