This simple addition to ground beef (or turkey) makes for some delicious teriyaki burgers.
  • 1½ pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon rice or red wine vinegar
  • ⅛ teaspoon of granulated garlic
  • 1/16 teaspoon of sesame oil (optional)
  1. Mix together sugar, soy sauce, wine vinegar, garlic, and sesame oil in a small cup until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Place ground beef into a large enough bowl to hold it all.
  3. Pour soy sauce mixture over ground beef.
  4. Mix well until the sauce is completely incorporated into the meat and well distributed.
  5. Form meat into hamburger patties.
  6. At this point, the teriyaki burgers can be frozen with a layer of waxed paper between them for later use if you choose.
  7. Grill burgers over low to medium heat for about 5 minutes per side. This will take longer if burgers are frozen.
  8. Serve on buns with the usual toppings.
  9. If you want something special, grill slices of pineapple and serve them atop the burgers.
