Barbecued Sauced Chicken

This recipe can be cooked in a variety of ways, and it's delicious served over noodles or rice. It's a simple way to get a flavorful meal on the table in no time. It's also a way to have dinner on the table when you come home. I have included instructions for the stove top method as well as the slow cooker method.
Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • ⅓ cup catsup
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 4 teaspoons white vinegar
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 1½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed celery seeds
  • 2 lbs skinless bone in chicken or 1 pound boneless chicken
Instructions
  1. STOVE TOP INSTRUCTIONS:
  2. Heat oil in large pan with lid and add onion.
  3. Saute until onion becomes transulucent.
  4. Add remaining ingredients except chicken and bring to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, add chicken and reduce heat.
  6. Simmer for 20 - 30 minutes or until chicken is done.
  7. Serve over noodles or rice.
  8. SLOW COOKER INSTRUCTIONS:
  9. Place all ingredients in slow cooker and mix well.
  10. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 - 4 hours.
  11. Serve over noodles or rice
