Since today is Halloween, I thought that I would share our menu for this evening. When children are small, it’s very difficult to get them to eat anything for dinner before heading out to Trick or Treat. One of the traditions in our house is that we always serve something Ghoulish for dinner, so that the pre-trick or treat meal is also part of the festivities.
Dinner will consist of the following:
Mummy Meatloaf served alongside Caterpillars and Cheese with added Brain Matter.
For finger foods and snacks during the evening, we will have an assortment of Halloween Style Deviled Eggs and a skeleton crudite as well as Halloween Snack Mix.
Our sweet treats will include graveyard pudding as well as an assortment of my pretzel based candies made with candy corn, marshmallow gummy eyeballs, and pumpkin shaped jelly candies. These candies always disappear quickly, so I try to make more than I think I’ll need.
I haven’t decided what to do about beverages yet, but I’ve got a couple of bottles of pumpkin cider that I picked up the last time I was in civilization that I will probably serve over ice.
Since it’s pretty chilly today, I will also serve mugs of hot chocolate with a pair of eyeball marshmallows floating on top. A drink that stares back at you is always a good choice for Halloween.
I hope you have a safe and happy Halloween. Leave a comment and let us know about your Halloween traditions. We love to hear from our readers.
Thanks for visiting Patty Cakes Pantry.
