Bacon Cheeseburger Salad

Bacon Cheeseburger Salad

What do you do when you are trying to cut back on bread, but the family wants to grill burgers?  It’s simple.  You make a cheeseburger salad.  If you want to make it even better, make it a bacon cheeseburger salad.  This salad is a definite winner in our house.  Bacon Cheeseburger Salad

To create this salad, we took everything that would be on a burger–lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and cheese–and put it into a salad.  Then, we topped the salad with some cooked and chopped bacon and a grilled 1/4 pound burger that was cut into bite sized pieces.  The entire salad was topped with thousand island dressing because it’s close to the sauce that is usually served on burgers.  The end result was amazing.

  1. This salad is definitely not a diet food, but it looks delicious. You would save some calories and fat by using either lean ground beef, chicken, or turkey burgers.

    1. Those are excellent ideas. We actually made these salads with ground sirloin because that’s what we had available to use at the time.

    1. I love easy recipes like this to get dinner on the table quickly, don’t you? The fact that it really tastes like a deconstructed burger is a huge plus in getting my kids to eat it.

  2. I used to love that jungle from a favorite burger place – Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce cheese, pickles, onions… in bowl! SO cool you can have this in a salad! Loose the carbs!

  3. I typically just wrap my burger in a piece of lettuce but that gets old after awhile…this is a nice option I’ve never even thought of! Great idea!! I’ll try this next time I have burgers!!

    1. “Protein style” burgers are a good option, too, but not when your only lettuce is baby spring greens. Those would be smaller than sliders. Note to self: Buy bigger lettuce.

    1. The only high carb item in this salad can be the dressing. Read the labels on your thousand island to make sure it complies with your diet.
