Baked Pizza Sliders--large dinner rolls filled with pizza toppings and grushed with garlic butter before being baked

Baked Pizza Sliders

Baked Pizza Sliders are easy to make and delicious.   Rolls, spread with my Quick and Easy Pizza Sauce, are topped with meat and cheese before being brushed with garlic and herb butter and baked in the oven.  The result is a delicious, crispy bread loaded with melted cheese and meat.  Baked Pizza Sliders are sure to become a  favorite with your family like they have with mine.

I was inspired to make these after reading a recipe for Italian Slider Sandwiches at GatherForBread.com.  I didn’t have all of the ingredients needed to make her version, but I love to improvise.   I had no pepper sauce, and my leftover dinner rolls were  plain round dinner rolls that were slightly oversized instead of Hawaiian Rolls.    In spite of these limitations, I proceeded.    It was an easy dinner, and everyone was happy.   Sue Chef did not complain that it made her mouth sad.  Food Critic even had a second slider.  We served our Baked Pizza Sliders with the leftover pizza sauce for dipping or spreading onto the sandwiches.    This recipe was a definite success, and we served it with a side of oven friesBaked Pizza Slicers--dinner rolls arefilled with pizza toppings and brushed with butter flavored with garlic and Italain herbs

Ingredients
  • 12 large dinner rolls
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (Patty Cake's Pantry Quick and Easy Pizza Sauce Works well)
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 6 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 12 slices dry salami
  • 6 slices deli ham
  • 36 slices pepperoni (or 3 ounces pepperoni minis)
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ teaspoon granulated garlic
  • ⅛ teaspoon parsley flakes
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cut rolls in half lengthwise
  3. Cut cheese slices and ham slices into quarters
  4. Place bottom halves of the rolls in a 9X13 inch baking pan that has been sprayed with non-stick spray.
  5. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on exposed top of the bottom half of each roll.
  6. Next, you will arrange the meat and cheese on the roll. I list an order, but don't just stack everything in a straight tower. Instead, place the items off center so that the entire surface of the roll is covered as you build your tower.
  7. Place ¼ slice of mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza sauce.
  8. Top with 1 slice of dry salami.
  9. Top with ¼ slice of mozzarella.
  10. Place ¼ piece of ham on top of the mozzarella.
  11. Top the ham with ¼ slice of provolone cheese.
  12. Add another piece of ham and another piece of provolone.
  13. Place 2 slices of pepperoni on next, and sprinkle with a tablespoon of shredded Parmesan.
  14. Place the top of the rolls on the meat and cheese filling.
  15. Melt butter and stir in garlic, parsley, and grated Parmesan.
  16. Spread all of the butter mixture over the top of each roll, making sure to get the garlic, cheese, and parsley that settles to the bottom of the mixture onto the rolls. I use a combination of a silicone brush and a spoon to ensure the rolls are evenly topped.
  17. Place pan into 375 degree oven, and bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.
